This is the scope sheet we hand you at the estimate — the same list, in the same order, that the crew works from. Nothing on it is a line item we add later.

Protection & dust control
Floor and stair protection from the door to the bathroom, a zippered dust wall at the opening, and debris carried out the same day it comes off the wall.
Full tear-out to the studs
Tile, board, tub, vanity, toilet and the old subfloor if it's soft. We look at the joists and the supply lines while the walls are open and tell you what we find.
Rough plumbing
Drain and supply relocated for the new layout, shower valve set to the tile plane, shutoffs replaced, and the whole thing pressure-checked before anything closes up.
Electrical & ventilation
GFCI outlets, vanity and shower lighting, and an exhaust fan ducted to the outside — not into the joist bay or the attic, which is how ceilings grow mold.
Waterproofing & flood test
Sloped mortar bed, bonded waterproofing membrane at the pan, curb and wall, corners banded, and a 24-hour flood test on the pan before a single tile goes down.
Tile, niche & grout
Layout dry-run so cuts land where you'd want them, recessed niche framed and pitched, then grout and a sealed perimeter in silicone — never grout — at every change of plane.
Vanity, toilet & fixtures
Vanity set and scribed to the wall, top and bowl, trim kits, toilet on a new flange and wax, mirror, lights and hardware.
Glass, punch list & walk-through
Shower glass measured on site, then installed when the fabricator delivers. We walk the room with you and fix the punch list before the final invoice.
The sequence
Seven working days, in order
A bathroom is a real sequence — nothing in it can be done out of order, which is exactly why a crew that leaves mid-job costs you weeks. Here is how ours runs.
Shower glass is templated on site and installed as soon as the fabricator delivers, which is usually the week after the tile is grouted. We tell you that up front rather than at the end.

Thirty minutes in your bathroom, Monday to Saturday between 3 and 5 PM. You get a written, itemized proposal within 48 hours — not a number over the phone.

Protection and demo
Dust wall up, room stripped to the studs, debris out the same day. This is also when surprises surface, and when we tell you about them.

Rough plumbing and electrical
New drain and supply, valve set, GFCI and lighting, fan ducted outside. Permits pulled with your town and inspections scheduled by us.

Waterproofing
Mortar bed, membrane, banded corners, flood test. This is the day that decides whether the ceiling below stays dry for twenty years.

Tile and grout
Dry layout first so the cuts are deliberate. Then wall, floor, niche, grout, and silicone at every corner and change of plane.

Vanity, fixtures and trim
Everything you actually touch goes in: vanity, top, faucet, toilet, mirror, lighting, hardware, door and trim.

Walk-through and sign-off
We walk the room with you, write the punch list, finish it, and clean the space before we invoice.
The day that matters
Waterproofing is the whole job.
A shower is a box that holds water for twenty years. Tile does not do that — tile is the finish. What keeps water out of your joists is a sloped mortar bed, a bonded membrane carried up the walls and over the curb, and banded corners at every change of plane.
We flood-test the pan for a full 24 hours before a single tile goes down. If it holds, we tile. If it doesn't, we find out on our time instead of on your ceiling.
It is the least photogenic day of the job and the only one that decides whether you call anybody about this bathroom again.

Straight answers
What people ask before they book.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
A standard full bath runs about seven working days on site, plus the shower glass, which is templated after the tile is grouted and installed when the fabricator delivers. Layout changes, custom tile patterns and long-lead vanities push that out — and we put the real number in your written proposal instead of the optimistic one.
Can we still use the bathroom while you work?
Not the one we're building. If it's your only full bath, tell us at the estimate — we sequence the toilet back in as early as the work allows and we'll tell you honestly which nights you'll want a plan B.
Do you pull the permits?
Yes. Plumbing and electrical permits are pulled with your town's building department and we schedule the inspections. You don't chase paperwork.
What does a bathroom remodel cost?
It depends on the size of the room, whether the layout moves, and what you pick for tile, vanity, fixtures and glass. We don't quote bathrooms over the phone. The on-site estimate is free, takes about thirty minutes, and produces a written itemized price within 48 hours.
Can you convert a tub into a walk-in shower?
Yes, and it's one of the most common jobs we do in older Greater Boston homes. It usually means a new pan and drain location, a proper sloped mortar bed and membrane, and a decision about whether to keep a curb or go curbless — which depends on your joists. We look at that at the estimate.
Do you do small bathrooms and powder rooms?
Yes. A 5×7 second-floor bath in a 1920s two-family is our bread and butter, and a powder room is a short job we're happy to schedule.
What about asbestos or lead paint?
We don't do asbestos abatement or de-leading — those need a licensed specialist and we'll refer you to one. If we find something behind the wall during demo, we stop, tell you, and don't disturb it.
